5VI...something something.

Saturday night, September somethingth, 2006

Friday was such an awesome day. Yeah, ok, I had to get up and be to work at 8...but other than that and my eye issue, I got paid. So 11 am rolls around and I am checking the parking lot for Gordon...he's usually not more than five minutes late, and it's usually on account of the coffee shop being busy. Long story short, he came along at noon when we were busy. It was very busy right up until around 1:40. The lights flickered, went out. Came back on. Then went out for good. People still came in, but we pretty much instantly went dead. I went and got the calculator from the office in case we had complicated orders. For the most part though, unfortunately I have all the prices after tax memorized. Writing everything down on paper (what they ordered, price, paid with) and kept the key in the drawer. Fun fun...I honestly was happy at that moment. It made me glad to have been there when it went out, so I could relax for a bit.

We started wondering after 15 minutes or so if it was even going to come back on at all. I figured it better be time to either call the power people or go find someone in this plaza who already has. So Gordon searched for the number and I went in search of news. I came back with this new knowledge: everyone nearby in the plaza is very lazy. Nobody knew anything. Bill lost his cell phone but was going to call once he found it. A few of the regulars worked up in the tax office that I didnt know about, otherwise they would have gotten their discount a long time ago....and last but not least, the guy who works at the taquaria across the way who is always watching me is alot hotter than i had first thought.

Gordon still hadnt called.

After he did call, found out that on the other side of the freeway the power is on and that 1500 people are out of power. There were trucks on their way to the site and it should be on within the hour. I divied up tips and caught a ride with Rolando and made it down with my car to REGISTER MY CAR.

Every single person I talked to who worked there I could tell that their first language was not english. I started being sarcastic with the car inspector guy but he just looked at me ans said "what?" I think he was from Europe. It was all serious, I couldnt even try to be slightly social to the people to lighten their day because every time i tried they didnt understand me. Ugh. Ironically, my licence plate starts with 5 (five for may, the month i was born) VI (the first two letters of my last name).....I dont really remember the rest of my plate. Oops. But now that I have a car running I can do laundry gladly and if I need something I can go to the cheaper place not the one closeby...and I dont have to do it on my way home from work. No more hauling a 70 pound duffel bag down the hill and through the long parking lot full of prissy people who watch you struggle as you walk by and say "gee, that looks mighty heavy." but dont help in any way. (that's doing laundry without a car.) No more only getting a few things at the store because I have to carry it all back up the hill, which usually always gives me a headache if it's more than 15 dollars worth of food.

Ok....I have a major problem now. My car..it stalls now. It runs fine until I go under 20 mph, then it starts to shake and jump and almost stall until i give it more gas. I'm pretty sure it's not the alternator since I've been through that with this same car last winter and it's not acting like that. Yes, there's plenty of gas in the car. I am so confused....It was running just fine until I picked David up...maybe it doesnt like him. But really though....it was a horrible drive home and I was all shaken up after it finally stalled in my driveway. I dont think it is the idle, since it idles low in park, and it only stalls in drive...well actually i havent tried it in neutral...but i started it from neutral earlier and it didnt stall. this really, really sucks. I just spent all the money on the damn thing to get it road legal and it does this. i could cry...i hope it is something easy. something that i can just slap my forehead and laugh and be glad it's over. But until then.....AAAAHHH my car is broken!!!! Help!!!

MY CAR! MY CAR!

We changed the spark plugs....which costedddd very cheap.

Today...I took thy GMARRIE down to the shop and handed the keys over and look look an hour later the owner of the place who is really cool tells me Yer all set...

What???? i think. He's not telling me "ok, well it looks like something failed..." no...MY CAR PASSED THEIR TEST!!! My car is a smart car...very smart arentcha....good car...you just costedddd me 67 bucks. (They charged 12 bucks for a new gascap...which is outrageous but meh...the one on there had no seal. most gas stations around here i've found do not save the gas caps found, stupid morons.

But yay...now online the price comes out to 155 bucks for registering my car, total. Ugh...I only have 84 bucks until next friday. (plus or minus my tips, which feeds me.) But that money goes to other things too, like 300 for rent and then 120 of it for phone and insurance....which leaves us with almost nothing after i go to register my car. Why do people take my money? this sucks.

Anyways....C'est tout! I'm so happy!!

Oh by the way...as for the walnut tree....I went out to it FOUR days later hoping for some ripe walnuts since the last time i took some there were NONE ripe.....and i couldnt see any. I thought...well it's probably just because I only have one contact in and the sun is setting...yeah that's it...but as i circled the tree over and over i realized GOOD GOD, this tree was FULL of walnuts a few days ago and IT'S BARE NOW. Every single one has been taken by some greedy squirrels or big ugly black birds or maybe even some coons???? And as I was feeling so glum, I suddenly saw one. One, all by itself, with the outside starting to blacken. OOO, it's ripe. So I guess i'll never see another walnut out of that tree for another year. Why would animals take walnuts that arent ripe??? grr....unless all the ones that i couldnt get to were...but i climbed pretty high up in there. stupid squirrels......they took all my nuts. :(n her husband's television show and in his 2002 movie.

Vrmm vrmm

That's what I hope to hear soon...like every day when i get in my car. Yeah yeah you guys say...so much about your car.

The other day we decided ok, time to fix the tire today and give your car a health inspection.

After tracking down a tire iron in the back of Debbie's car, we get the rear driver side tire off. David rolls it...and bounces it...

"There's no hole in this. Where is the nail?"

"What?", I say...confused. "Dude...it was a freaking screw, how could it have came out."

"Well, there is no hole in this tire. Look. There is nothing in the tire either. You made me take this tire off all because you are crazy."

It was on the ground next to where the tire was on the car. Apparantly when he spun it around and around to take it off it somehow came off. There was imprints on the tire of where it was....but no puncture......YAYAYAYAYAYAAAAYYYYEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Poor him, took the tire off and put it back on for nothing. At least it got his blood pumping and got him dirty. Off we went and brought it back new spark plugs. Too bad it's Labor Day weekend....GRRR.......stupid car shops all closed down because they are taking a day off from labor.....

i guess i cant complain too much, I (coincidentally) got the day off too. Actually I suggested to the manager that we close down shop for the day, seeings how that's what that holiday is all about...but I think most of the people that are going to work that day are going to be people that dont really believe in this holiday...it's the first time i've actually celebrated it for myself.
Woo...yay.Let's make a cake.
Santa Claus does exist!!!
