5VI...something something.

Saturday night, September somethingth, 2006

Friday was such an awesome day. Yeah, ok, I had to get up and be to work at 8...but other than that and my eye issue, I got paid. So 11 am rolls around and I am checking the parking lot for Gordon...he's usually not more than five minutes late, and it's usually on account of the coffee shop being busy. Long story short, he came along at noon when we were busy. It was very busy right up until around 1:40. The lights flickered, went out. Came back on. Then went out for good. People still came in, but we pretty much instantly went dead. I went and got the calculator from the office in case we had complicated orders. For the most part though, unfortunately I have all the prices after tax memorized. Writing everything down on paper (what they ordered, price, paid with) and kept the key in the drawer. Fun fun...I honestly was happy at that moment. It made me glad to have been there when it went out, so I could relax for a bit.

We started wondering after 15 minutes or so if it was even going to come back on at all. I figured it better be time to either call the power people or go find someone in this plaza who already has. So Gordon searched for the number and I went in search of news. I came back with this new knowledge: everyone nearby in the plaza is very lazy. Nobody knew anything. Bill lost his cell phone but was going to call once he found it. A few of the regulars worked up in the tax office that I didnt know about, otherwise they would have gotten their discount a long time ago....and last but not least, the guy who works at the taquaria across the way who is always watching me is alot hotter than i had first thought.

Gordon still hadnt called.

After he did call, found out that on the other side of the freeway the power is on and that 1500 people are out of power. There were trucks on their way to the site and it should be on within the hour. I divied up tips and caught a ride with Rolando and made it down with my car to REGISTER MY CAR.

Every single person I talked to who worked there I could tell that their first language was not english. I started being sarcastic with the car inspector guy but he just looked at me ans said "what?" I think he was from Europe. It was all serious, I couldnt even try to be slightly social to the people to lighten their day because every time i tried they didnt understand me. Ugh. Ironically, my licence plate starts with 5 (five for may, the month i was born) VI (the first two letters of my last name).....I dont really remember the rest of my plate. Oops. But now that I have a car running I can do laundry gladly and if I need something I can go to the cheaper place not the one closeby...and I dont have to do it on my way home from work. No more hauling a 70 pound duffel bag down the hill and through the long parking lot full of prissy people who watch you struggle as you walk by and say "gee, that looks mighty heavy." but dont help in any way. (that's doing laundry without a car.) No more only getting a few things at the store because I have to carry it all back up the hill, which usually always gives me a headache if it's more than 15 dollars worth of food.

Ok....I have a major problem now. My car..it stalls now. It runs fine until I go under 20 mph, then it starts to shake and jump and almost stall until i give it more gas. I'm pretty sure it's not the alternator since I've been through that with this same car last winter and it's not acting like that. Yes, there's plenty of gas in the car. I am so confused....It was running just fine until I picked David up...maybe it doesnt like him. But really though....it was a horrible drive home and I was all shaken up after it finally stalled in my driveway. I dont think it is the idle, since it idles low in park, and it only stalls in drive...well actually i havent tried it in neutral...but i started it from neutral earlier and it didnt stall. this really, really sucks. I just spent all the money on the damn thing to get it road legal and it does this. i could cry...i hope it is something easy. something that i can just slap my forehead and laugh and be glad it's over. But until then.....AAAAHHH my car is broken!!!! Help!!!
